Allah tells us in the Quran
The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. Quran (Al-Baqarah : Ayat 261)
He also says, Satan threatens you with poverty and orders you to immorality, while Allah promises you forgiveness from Him and bounty. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. Quran (Al-Baqarah : Ayat 268)
According to a Sahih Hadith in Muslim,Abu Hurairah (RA) reports the Messenger of Allah once saying” When a person dies all his deeds come to an end except for three; his continuous charity, his virtuous knowledge which benefits others and his pious children who pray for him after his death.”
“And spend (in charity) of that with which we have provided you, before death comes to one of you and he says” My lord! If only you would give me respite for a little while (i.e. return to the worldly life), then I should give Sadaqah of my wealth, and be among the other good deeds.”Quran- (Al-Munāfiqūn: Ayat 10).
The messenger of Allah said:”The most merciful Allah has mercy on those who are merciful.”
